Traditional Tales

In English, we have been creating figures using clay, drawing, and coloring to retell the traditional tales, Myths, Fables, and Legends. We are allowed to read a book or watch a movie based on the topic. And we choose what category and what story are we gonna pick, for me I picked Legends.

The Legend I chose is Medusa and Perseus. I retold the story by making a static image of Medusa with her head been cut off. because in the story Perseus had have been given a quest by a king to cut off her head and bring it to him. The king wants to kill her because Medusa is a beast who killed lots of warriors and turned them into stone, So that's, why he asked Perseus to, kill her.

Who is Medusa?

Medusa was born Phorcys and Ceto known was the "Gorgons". Medusa is one of the Gorgon Sisters who possesses snake lock's because they were a punishment from "Athena" (the goddess of wisdom and war). Athena punished her to have a hideous appearance and loathsome snakes for hair for having been raped in Athena's temple by "Poseidon" (The Goddess of Horses, Sea, and Earthquakes)

I also learned about the differences between Myths, Legends, Tales, and Fables.

Myths are stories that try to explain how our world works and how we should treat each other. People have always come up with a thought of How did our world come to be? or Why is the Ocean blue? Some myths answered these questions.

Legends are also fictional stories, but they are different from myths. Legends are based on real people who lived in more recent times and are mentioned in history. Legends are told for purpose and are based on facts, but they are not completely true.

Fables are a fictional story naturally a short story, typically with animals as characters, and also often teach moral values.

Tales/Fairy Tales are stories written often for children. It often uses magical characters for example elves, fairies, wizards, dragons, dwarves, goblins giants etc..
