Part 7 Consciousness

How is it that Connor was not unwound? p318 Connor did not get unwound because he took a new personality as Mr. Mullard that stopped him from getting unwind after the incident of the clapper blewing up Happy jack Camp.

Whose arm does he now have? P319 Connor recieved an arm from Roland

On p321 Risa tells Connor how she won't be unwound. Do you think her decision to not accept the spine of an Unwind was purely ethical, or was she also playing the system in order to stay alive? I think Risa did not accept a spine from an unwind because she knows what it feels like to be an unwind and also she maybe did that to prevent herself from getting unwind.

Since the explosions at Happy Jack, what have people been doing? What has Cy-Fi's role been in this? P325 Because of the explosion at Happy Jack people started a protested in Washington about unwinds. Cy Fi also testified before congress and rumoured to be that the legal age for adulthood will drop from eighteen to seventeen saving a lot of unwinds.

Lev's parents disown him. Who is trying to become his guardian? P328.
Because of his parents disowning Lev. his brother Marcus is petitioning for guardianship.

Why has Pastor Dan resigned? P329
Pastor Dan resigned the church because he didn't believe the God who condones human tithing.
P331-332 explain what has happened to Harlan Dunfee. What do you think about the Admiral and his wife's plan?
Was it what you expected?  I thought the Admiral would bring back his son by collecting the parts of his son and putting it together but instead he hosted a party and invited the people who received an organ from his son.

Who takes over the graveyard? P331
Connor took over the graveyard as Mr. E Mullard

Part Six Unwound

Part Six Unwound
1. Connor and Risa are sent to Happy Jack Harvest Camp. Describe what it is like, and explain why it is like this. P265-266 The harvest camp is nestled in Happy Jack Arizona in a pine covered ridge, the sedating forest give way the red mountains of Sedona a very scenic place for a purpose, it is also built like a hotel filled with bright pastel colors with minimal red colour because red is phsycologically associated with anger, aggression and blood. The Boys dormitory is painted light blue with a hint of green and the girls dormitory is painted lavender, with pink. The staff is wearing a Hawaiian shirts except for surgeons their scrubs are sunshine yellow.

2. What is the exact percentage of the Unwind that you have to keep alive? Why is it not 100%, as Risa believes? P269 The exact percentage of body parts that should be kept alive is 99.44% because of the appendix having no purpose in the body.

3. What do the unwinds call the place where unwinding occurs? P271 The unwinds call it the "Chop chop" because it's the pace where they chop your body parts.

4. Lev too, is at Happy Jack, but as a tithe. Why is this?  Because Lev, Blaine and Mai are planning to become clappers and blow up the Happy Jack Harvest Camp.

5. On p278 Connor and Roland finally have the fight that's been brewing between them. What does each character realises during this? Roland realized that he is not the killer he thought he was because he isn't capable of the thing he thought he could be. Connor realises that he would rather die to Roland than to get unwind one of the questions that they talked about in the plane.

6. P284 - What group has Lev joined, who recruited him, and when will they follow out their plan?  Cleaver recruited Lev the one who was beaten to death in the graveyard. The kid who taught Rolnd to fly a helicopter, Cleaver recruited all three of them Mai, Lev and Blaine to blew up the camp by clapping their hand and exploding the camp.

7. Roland is called for unwinding on p286. Why is this? Roland is called for unwinding because of his blood type being an AB negative. Due to his blood type being rare they are unwinding him as soon as possible.

8. Chapter 61 is arguably the most confronting chapter in the book. Here we have Roland's first person narrative of being unwound. Do you think this chapter is necessary? Yes it's necessary because Shusterman want to show what it's like to be unwound.
Why do you think Shusterman chose to have Roland's experience detailed? Shusterman did this so that the readers have an information of what's gonna happen, what would unwinding look like in they're own point of view. Shusterman may also did this to show Roland's past so that the readers may change their opinion about unwinding Roland.

Do his memories alter how you view him?
Roland's memories made me think what it's like to be him. I also got pity for Roland because of his past, because of the reason why he's getting unwound.

9. Why does Lev decide not to clap? P310
Lev did'nt clap because he knows what they are doing is wrong and he also wanna save connor like connor save him.

Platelets: Platelets are tiny fragments of cell. They are the cells that are responsible for creating a blood clot when you get a cut on your skin. If one of your blood vessels gets damaged, it sends out signals that are picked up by platelets. They also send out chemical signals to attract more platelets to pile onto the clot in a process called aggregation.

The Mechanics of Breathing Image result for mechanics of breathing

When breathing in the diaphragm contracts to expand the chest cavity. The Diaphragm then flattens and moves downwards. The air then moves through your windpipe which is called the Trachea. The Trachea which then divides into two passage ways, the Bronchi. The air which then moves into a more narrow and tighter space that is called the Bronchioles. At the end of the Bronchioles there is a group of tiny air sacs. These air sacs have bulges called Alveoli, to increase their surface area and speed up the absorption of oxygen. In the alveoli the Carbon Dioxide that comes from the body switches up with the Oxygen that came from your Trachea, after the switching process we breathe out thus making our diaphragm relaxes and returns to its original position pushing the Carbon Dioxide out from the body.

Child Trafficking

Child Trafficking is the action of illegally kidnapping or relocating children for the purpose of sexual exploitation or child labour. Connor's reaction was furious, thrilled and relieved at the same time. Because of Connor's Instinctive action he punched Lev in the eye because of what Lev have done to them. He realized that Lev had changed a lot. Connor realized that he no longer acts as a tithe he is strong and smart of his actions.

9. P222-226 give us an insight into how the Unwinding Bill was passed into law. Summarise what happened, then explain whether or not you think it is plausible.
At first the people thought there we're only 2 sides of the war the pro-life and the pro-choice but there is a third side, the side who wants to prevent both sides to fight each other using the military . The bill of life started as a joke but after that a scientist won a Nobel Piece Prize for his study of Neurografting. Neurografting is when all body organs of the donor is used for a transplant. Until the side in the middle suggested "Unwinding" getting rid of unwanted children and donating their organs for people who need it. The both sides was happy about the idea and eventually signed a law about unwinding.

10. The Admiral was there when the Bill of Life was signed - do you think this detracts from the believability of the commonplace nature of Unwinding? In your opinion, do you think the book should have a few more generations between those who signed the Bill, and the present state in the novel?
Yes, so that we can see different point of view and opinions.

(This map shows the worst countries that uses Child Soldiers. This map also tells the ranking and category of the countries.)

SEEL PARAGRAPH
Recruiting a children and using it for military purposes is harmful for the community and the children themselves. It affects the community and the children because of what can the damaged can be done to the society and the families . A lot families will grief for there children, because most of the children are in risk of dying. Approximately 10 000 children die because of getting involved in a war. Child Soldiers are also known to get treated violently. Child soldiers are suffering to sexual harassment, bullying, unlawful treatment, and psychological illnesses for example Trauma. Most children who witnessed death in front of their eyes will likely to suffer from that illness Trauma. One of my research say's they joined the military group known as the Anti-Balaka because they want to avenge their family members. Because of their anger burning to their heart they end up joining the group voluntarily .This takes away they're Human Rights by not having a life of a child, the freedom they want, the freedom for them to play and to make they're own decision, it also takes away their right to be educated. Like the children in Central Africa. Children are used because they are easier to manipulate and they are also compliant or obedient. Children are recruited in Middle East, Africa and Asia. Children are not used for war and violence, children are supposed to be free and living the life of a child. A child that has the right to play freely and to be educated, but because of these cruel behavior of ours we are putting our future to a great danger. Don't wait.. Act now.
